Super Bowl Ads 2008 - Boring!

The Super Bowl was a great game and was actually enjoyable, but one thing was lacking: quality ads. This year’s crop of commercials were some of the worst I have ever seen! If I were going to burn 2.7 million on a 30-second spot, I would make sure I got my money’s worth. The E*Trade Financial commercials with the home video baby were absolutely terrible. We received lame attempts by Budweiser and Pepsi to make us laugh. Don’t even get me started with the SalesGenie ads. An Asian panda named “Ling Ling”? Those commercials were absolutely awful. I would have rather watched a blank screen for 30 seconds. It is a shame too because something like 20-30% of the TV audience watch solely for the commercials. The only one that triggered any interest for me was the Audi R8 commercial and that is only because that car looked amazing.

Also, I must give credit where credit is due: congratulations to the NYG. I didn’t think they could get it done, but they proved me and millions of other fans wrong. It was a great performance by a great team.
